Richard W. Gilbert

Richard W. GilbertRichard is a seasoned communications industry executive with extensive hands-on experience operating daily and weekly newspaper companies, both large and small, as well as a number of radio and television stations and magazines. Richard led four prominent media companies over a span of twenty years before joining Bulkley Capital in 1996. Additionally, he has had significant involvement in banking and investing while serving as a Director of two large financial institutions. Richard was Chairman of the Board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago ($17 billion in assets) in the mid 1990s and has served, since 1984, as a Director of the Principal Mutual Funds, organized by the Principal Financial Group, Des Moines, Iowa.

Richard began his career as a community newspaper editor after graduation from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.  He later purchased his own weekly newspaper before joining the Iowa Governor's staff as Press Secretary where he co-managed three statewide political campaigns for then Iowa Chief Executive, Robert D. Ray.

In addition to his work with Bulkley Capital, Richard serves as a Chairman for The Executive Committee, a world-wide organization for CEOs, and serves as an outside Director for six Chicago-based middle-market companies.  He is also an Advisory Board member to a family holding company and an independent Director of a Midwest-based mutual fund with nearly $40 billion under management.  Richard is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors ("NACD").
